Brandon “Bug” Hall, best known for playing Alfalfa in 1994's The Little Rascals, has been arrested.

PEOPLE confirmed on Tuesday, April 14 that the former child star was charged in Ohio with failing to appear for a December 31, 2024 court date over an October 2024 traffic citation for not having liability insurance. According to the Marlon County Sheriff's Office, he is no longer in custody. TMZ was first to report on the news.

Hall, 41, was born Brandon Rowan. He made his screen acting debut when he starred in the 1994 remake of The Little Rascals as Alfalfa. In the years that followed, Hall found a significant amount of work as a child actor and young star through the 1990s and 2000s in movies like The Big Green, Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves, Hercules, Skipped Parts and more.

Hall most recently appeared on the big screen in the 2024 movie Cabrini and 2020's This Is The Year. He has also appeared in episodes of series like Kelly Kelly, Charmed, Cold Case, CSI: Miami and Criminal Minds over the years.

Hall has been married to his wife Jill since 2017; the couple shares four daughters and one son. In January, Hall told The Daily Mail that he has taken “a vow of poverty” and moved his family to an 80-acre plot near Mountain View, Ark., where he intended to bring the family completely off-the-grid and said he will build his own home.

In that interview, Hall said he left the entertainment industry after he was arrested for allegedly huffing air duster cans during a June 2020 visit to his parents in Weatherford, Texas. He was booked on a misdemeanor possession charge at the time, according to jail records obtained by PEOPLE. Hall told The Daily Mail that he faced no charges; PEOPLE could not locate his criminal record.

Hall also stated in that January interview that he now identifies as a “radical Catholic extremist." He previously opened up about his evolving views on his religious faith in an April 2025 YouTube video titled “Into the Unknown,” in which Hall said that he no longer saw his acting career as “congruous” with his faith.

At the time, Hall said he donated most of his material possessions and all of his savings to maintain a life as free of any need for an income as possible.” When Hall spoke with The Daily Mail, he said that he and his wife are raising their children to be "extremists," homeschooling them and intend to “strongly discourage them” from attending a “nonsense” traditional school or college.
