Former Broncos quarterback John Elway and his wife, Paige Elway, have been married since 2009.
Nicknamed “The Duke of Denver,” the two-time Super Bowl champ, first met Paige around 2006. Paige has been by her husband’s side ever since, supporting him in his endeavors, including when he served as general manager of the Broncos from 2011 to 2020, during which the team picked up the Super Bowl 50 win in 2016.
In addition to their legacy with the famed sports team, the couple have been recognized for their philanthropic efforts in the greater Denver community. Paige is involved in several charitable causes, especially pet adoption, and has worked to raise awareness of causes important to her and Elway.
John is the subject of a new Netflix documentary, Elway, which premiered on Dec. 22. The film documents his successful football career and current life today as a father and grandfather.

She was an Oakland Raiders cheerleader

Like John, Paige was a professional athlete. She was an Oakland Raiders cheerleader in the 1980s and has posted about reuniting with her former teammates on multiple occasions.
In 2022, she shared several snaps of her with her former squad members, captioning one post, “Raiderette reunion special times with my 'ladies of the 80’s'!” Another post read, “Celebrating life long friendships in Las Vegas with my @raiderettes sisters.”
She is an animal advocate

Paige is an animal lover and dog welfare advocate, who has taken in several rescue dogs with John. In addition to sharing photos of her own dogs on social media, she uses her platform to promote dogs in need of homes and frequently uses hashtags such as #adoptdontshop and #rescuedog on her posts.
In 2014, she co-hosted a Bowl ‘n’ Bark event in Aurora, Colo., which raised $140,000 for the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley in their efforts to build a new shelter that can provide more care, per The Denver Post.
Paige and John met at a celebrity golf tournament

Paige and John first met around 2006 at former professional running back Marcus Allen’s golf tournament in Los Angeles, she once shared on Instagram.

They got married in 2009

The couple got engaged while on a trip to Italy in 2008. Shortly after their engagement, the pro bowler shared with Rocky Mountain News that he was “looking forward to a long life together” with his then-fiancée.
They wed in August 2009, marking the second marriage for the former Bronco. He was previously married to Janet Elway for almost two decades, before divorcing in 2003.
She is a stepmom to Elway’s four children

She is a philanthropist

In addition to being a member of the Broncos family, Paige has also been actively involved in the greater Denver community alongside John. They have supported the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver as well as the Barbara Davis Center, which specializes in Type 1 diabetes research and care.
The couple were honored with the High Hopes Tribute Award for their philanthropic work at the 29th Annual Carousel Ball in 2015.
"John Elway has been a leading community figure, world class athlete and outstanding role model for so many young people," Barbara Davis said. Her daughter, Dana, was the foundation’s then-interim executive director who chaired the ball. "We are thrilled to salute him and have the Elways on our team," she added.
